Rare Victorian taxidermy hummingbird brooch, set in gilded metal. English in origin. Circa 1860. Iridescent feathers change color depending on angle viewed. The Victorians were known for their love of naturalism. This delicate well preserved antique hummingbird displays vibrant feathers with garnet eyes. These naturalist pieces are delicate in nature and make for wonderful display objects.
Measures 1″ in length, with original brooch fitting. We recommend that this piece be used for display purposed only and not worn. Comes with wooden pedestal and glass cover. There is some patina on the metal we have not attempted to remove in fear cleaning could damage the well preserved taxidermy.
