A central rose cut diamond is set in a simple bold bezel setting in 18k gold. The ring has a strong weighty feel. This example features an unusual flat rose cut diamond of 1.6 carats. Stones similar to this are referred to as portrait cuts. As early as the Renaissance thin diamond crystals like this were polished to a nearly flat plane and used to cover a miniature painted portrait.
Hand fabricated in our Texas workshop in yellow gold, this ring can also be made in our custom blend of 18K yellow gold. A more subdued, darker tone than commercially available rose gold. We call this color “old gold” and created the alloy in the spirit of the many 19th century rings we have handled.
