Antique shield shaped diamond pendant in platinum. The main stone is a rare portrait cut stone of approximately 1.20 carats. The setting is a delicate bezel set design that simply. floats the diamond. Portrait cut stones are cut from very flat diamond crystals allowing an image to be viewed clearly through the stone. We have encountered several fine antique jewels that have used a portrait cut diamond as the ‘glass’ over painted portrait. Found in London. Circa 1910. Hanging on a modern platinum chain.
