Mid 19th century finely woven hair earrings. 14k Gold wires and fittings. Beautifully preserved most likely a sentimental piece perhaps maid for a mother with her daughters hair.
Hair was used in sentimental exchange and for friendship tokens as much as memorializing the dead. Hairwork was a popular tradition in Europe and America through about 1870. These are a rare example of hairwork earrings.
