Victorian diamond and turquoise gimmel ring. Gimmel from the Latin ‘gemellus’, or twin. The clasped hands open to reveal a double heart. The ring is comprised of three rings held together by a center pin at the base, allowing the ring to swivel open. The two hands join snugly together. Remarkable stone setting work with tiny rose cut diamonds and persian turquoise stones. Turquoise was a commonly used choice in love tokens of the 19th century. Circa 1840.
