Victorian era pinchbeck locket with snake motif symbolizing eternal love. Richly colored gilded metal. Pinchbeck is a stable gold-colored metal alloy used in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original frame and glass are intact. A personal image can be placed in the locket compartment. English in origin. Circa 1870.
